Fall-flavored beer sampling returns to the Zoo with two ways to celebrate! Kick off the weekend with a lively Friday night at OktoBEAR-Eve - an exclusive 21+ event featuring seasonal brews, festive vibes, and wild encounters. Or, join us Saturday for the beloved OktoBEARfest tradition, with unlimited sampling of 60+ seasonal brews, plus wine, seltzer, and cider. Enjoy live music, local vendors, and, of course, all-day admission to the Zoo.

Volunteer Opportunity Description
Below are the available volunteer assignments for this event. Please note that age requirements vary depending on the specific role.
Event Entrance (11:30-3:30) - Check IDs, wristband, hand out glasses, monitor a gate, and more
Pouring (11:00-3:30 and 2:30-6:15) - Pour beer, cider, seltzer (or other types alcohol) into official event cups
Recycling Support (12:00-3:30 and 3:30-6:30) - Support the Zoo's conservation mission by collecting beer cans and cardboard from stations and placing them in a specified dumpster - Must be able to bend, lift, twist, and walk up/down hills
Other Important Information
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old to assist at the event entrance, recycling, and VIP Gate Check. To serve alcohol, volunteers must be 21 or older.
Community service hours are available for volunteers! Simply bring your forms to the event or email them to allison.schwartz@marylandzoo.org after the event.
Full Day Volunteering - If you complete two shifts within the same day you will receive a pizza lunch (2 slices) and have the choice of:
Saturday Volunteer - One free ticket to Sunday's Oktobearfest or choice of two free Zoo tickets
Sunday Volunteer - One free ticket to Brew at the Zoo or two free Zoo tickets
We cannot offer a free ticket for the Saturday event to have you volunteer on Sunday
