JSSA Volunteering

JSSA


JSSA’s Aging In Place services, Holocaust Survivor Program, and Hospice program partner with hundreds of volunteers to improve individuals’ lives in Montgomery County, MD, DC, and Northern Virginia. Volunteer interests and skills are matched with the needs of clients, patients, and staff. Individuals and groups of every denomination are welcome.  

Volunteers are onboarded with care and must complete an online application, interview, background check, and training.

  • Friendly Visitor Program

  • Personal Shoppers

  • Tech Tutoring

  • Nourish Now

  • Collection Drive

  • Hospice

  • Recorded Visual Content Creator

  • Office Supper

Note: While there are several volunteer opportunities listed above and posted on the volunteer webpage (see below), sometimes there are varying numbers of opportunities available. See note below in "how to sign up".



Other Important Information
  • All volunteers must be at least 18 years old to participate.

  • Note that volunteering at JSSA is typically 1-on-1 volunteering, often matching a senior directly with a client, or having task-oriented volunteering. Volunteers should be flexible, patient, excellent communicators, respectful of maintaining boundaries and confidentiality, etc.
